The Department of Communicative Disorders adopted the following mission statement in 1997: To understand how communication works and how it breaks down so that we can design better intervention procedures to enable individuals with communication disorders to lead richer, fuller, and more productive lives. In keeping with this mission, specific goals for the bachelor's, master's and doctoral programs were established. In the fall of 2009, the faculty and staff of the department met to update and revise a plan for the future of the department. The result was an organzied strategic plan with specific focus areas and strategies to accomplish our goals that was in better alignment with the strategic plan of the University as a whole.
