Programs

Our department offers three different degree programs. At each level our goals are the same: to nurture the development of practitioners, researchers and future leaders and to advance the well-being of individuals with communication disorders.

The undergraduate program prepares students for entry to graduate programs in speech language pathology or audiology. Our communicative disorders majors gain basic knowledge about communicative disorders and the clinical process within the framework of a liberal arts education.

The master's level program is where you'll receive hands-on training in addition to intensive coursework to prepare you to work with individuals who struggle to communicate with others. This when you'll learn how to deliver therapy.

In the PhD level program, our students concentrate on  the theoretical underpinnings of the therapy process. Here is where you begin to research ways to improve the outcomes of our therapy. Our PhD in Applied Language and Speech Sciences is widely regarded as one of the best in the country, and our doctoral students are the ones who will become the educators of tomorrow.
