Friday, June 10, 2016, University of Louisiana at Lafayette Communicative Disorders undergraduate and graduate students took home the Louisiana-Speech-Language-Hearing Associations (LSHA) Quiz Bowl trophy!

LSHA holds an annual convention for SLPs and Audiologists to gain continuing credits by attending guest speakers presenting on topics within the field of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences. Professionals and students are welcome to attend, and this year universities across Louisiana were invited to participate in a Quiz Bowl tournament.

Mariena Bracey (Covington, LA), Jessica Dalton (Austin, TX), Brad Harrison (Milwaukee, WI), Emma Ourston (Austin, TX), Christie Homratsomy (New Iberia, LA), and Jordan Aarstad (Shreveport, LA), students from UL Lafayette, competed against three other teams in a modern twist on Jeopardy to return the Quiz Bowl trophy back to UL Lafayette. Questions were formatted to include typical Jeopardy questions to modern styled questions including covering topics in Dysphagia, Speech & Language, Voice Disorders, Audiology, and more! Second year graduate student Mariena Bracey described her Quiz Bowl experience saying, "It was an honor to bring the trophy back home, and Quiz Bowl was an excellent way to start preparing for the Praxis." Other teams participating included Southeastern Louisiana University, Nicholls State University, and Southern University.
